<p>Sooner or later all business that use an LMS to train their employees need to migrate to a new and improved system. The process is as easy as you make it. Here are five steps you could follow for a smooth LMS migration.</p>
<h4><strong>1. Set the LMS migration team</strong></h4>
<p>Depending on the size of your company and the specifics of both LMSs, you can have a core team of between three and even ten or twelve people. This team might include:</p>
<ul>
<li>Team leader, someone who’ll know exactly at what stage the process is, at any time.</li>
<li>Course manager, who knows all the available course data.</li>
<li>Training administrator, who knows what the new system must do.</li>
<li>IT architect, to deal with all those tables of data as flawlessly as possible.</li>
</ul>
<h4><strong>2. Plan. Plan. Plan.</strong></h4>
<p>Seriously, plan. Everything. You need to plan your budget first. Everyone should be clear on the resources they have, and how much time they have. Then, you need to plan the entire process. Start by identifying the big chapters of your journey:</p>
<ul>
<li>What kinds of data you have, and how you’ll sort it.</li>
<li>What other system integrations you need.</li>
<li>How the actual migration of the data will occur.</li>
</ul>
<h4><strong>3. Do what you have planned</strong></h4>
<p>Inevitably, new problems and unplanned issues will arise at this phase. However, they come in significantly lower numbers after a thorough planning phase. And if the LMS migration team did a great job at planning, certainly they’ll find ways to tackle everything else.</p>
<h4><strong>4.Test the outcome</strong></h4>
<p>After all the data migration has occurred, you need a handful of end-users to test the outcome. This step is necessary, as most bugs need to be found and fixed before the official release.</p>
<h4><strong>5. Let the world know about your new LMS</strong></h4>
<p>This is the day you high-five with everyone in the LMS migration team and see the users with a “not bad” expression on their faces. If you have a mic, go ahead and drop it. Enjoy this time while it lasts. The next day will come with your next challenge.</p>

To give you and your eLearning team a fighting chance against the machines, learn, love and live these skills to succeed in 2016 and beyond.</p>
<h5><strong>1. Adapt and Move with Change</strong></h5>
<p>The skills of adaptability and agility are more important than ever because the days of releasing a single product as is and having it solve the problem are gone. Ideas are no longer created in a smoky room and manufactured in secret. We need consumer (learner) input to effectively create products for those consumers and even if by some miracle we do create something useful without outside influence, by the time we release it, it will be outdated.</p>
<h5><strong>2. Keep an Explorer’s Heart</strong></h5>
<p>Technology is not just a tool to get tasks done faster; it is also a tool for exploring unknown problems and identifying advantages. Keep in mind that the things you really need to do on a job to stay ahead really can’t be defined in a job description. To stay relevant in you eLearning team, you need to go beyond the minimum requirements and continue learning and increasing your value.</p>
<h5><strong>3. Embrace Social Media… It Isn’t Going Anywhere</strong></h5>
<p>One of the best ways to stay ahead of the pack is to engage in social media yourself by joining and interacting in learning communities, forums, and blogs. Internal social networks like <a href="https://slack.com/" target="_blank">Slack</a> or <a href="https://www.yammer.com/" target="_blank">Yammer</a> will help you integrate and engage with your peers by being able to share ideas, conference with team members, collaborate on solutions and increase productivity.</p>
<h5><strong>4. Don’t Just Date Data, Marry It</strong></h5>
<p>You need data and so do your students. The independence and lack of external controls that students feel from eLearning can have many benefits but also a downside. In order to make sure employees are actually retaining info, not just learning it for the course, you need to implement things like tests and quizzes to monitor retention and give feedback to learners. Let them know if the are on the right track and what needs to be improved in order to motivate and give them the tools to problem solve on their own.</p>
<h5><strong>5. Collaborate and Listen</strong></h5>
<p>Very few things are created a single person anymore, especially in the worlds of digital learning and online training. It is more important than ever to listen to peers and experts in your field to fine tune your work. Even more important than simply listening to others is appreciating the benefits of diverse thoughts.</p>

<p>Project management is one of the most valued skills in the job market today. One of the most reputable certifications you can take to prove your knowledge and skills in project management is the PMP certification, which is offered by the project management institute (PMI).</p>
<p>To receive the certificate, you should meet the following criteria:</p>
<ul>
<li>Have completed secondary education, worked in project management for 5 years, led projects for 7500 and have 35 hours of learning project management.</li>
<li>If you have a Bachelor’s degree, you must have 3-years’ experience working in project management, 4500 hours spent in project leadership and 35 education hours.</li>
</ul>
<p>If you qualify:</p>
<ol>
<li>Create an account on the PMI website.</li>
<li>Fill the application form under the ‘myPMI’ section, either in hard copy or soft copy. Pay extra attention to the experience section.</li>
<li>Submit the application and you’ll hear from PMI within a week.</li>
<li>Pay exam fees. Non-members pay $555 and members $405. Membership, though not compulsory, has many benefits, and costs only $129 annually.</li>
<li>Your application might have to go through a PMI audit. If you fail the audit, apply for a refund within 30 days. If you pass the audit, schedule for the exam.</li>
<li>Schedule for exams by logging into the PMI® Certification system, selecting exam mode of delivery (paper based or computer based) and choosing a suitable date for sitting for the exam.</li>
<li>Sit for the exam. You’ll have 4 hours to answer 200 questions.</li>
<li>Receive your PMP certificate if you pass (which means you answer 137 questions correctly).</li>
<li>Schedule for a re-take if you don’t pass. You get 3 retakes per year.</li>
<li>Even after certification, it’s important to keep earning PDUs in order to maintain PMP status and avoid certificate expiry. PDUs can be earned through education activities such as completing a project management course, or through professional activities such as publishing white papers on projects.</li>
<li>Once you accumulate 60 PDUs, apply for certificate renewal. You will need to pay $150 if you’re a non-member or $60 if you are a member.</li>
